What happens if the weather is bad?
If weather conditions are unsafe, the trip may be rescheduled or canceled. We will provide updates and alternative options if needed.
Are there any health restrictions?
If you have a medical condition, injury or are prone to motion sickness, consult with a medical professional before booking.
What is the cancellation/refund policy?
Deposits are none refundable however depending on the nature of the situation you may be eligible for a partial refund. Cancelation for swimming with the whales must be done at least 1 month in advance other cancelations must be given atleast 24 hour notice to be eligible for refund.
Can I pay with card?
Island Style Fishing Whale Watching and Charters is only able to accept cash payments at this time. We are working on accepting card payment and will be happy to accept card payments once we are able to
Is transportation provided?
We do not provide transportation however we are able to facilitate pick ups at the nearest dock.
Whale Watching & Swimming with Whales
How likely are whale sightings ?
Dominica is known as the Whale Watching Capital of the Caribbean because Sperm Whales reside here all year long, each trip stands at a 90% chance of sightings. During the winter months (November – March) they migrate closer to the equator making the area very active. . During the warmer summer months the males migrate across the globe leaving the females behind, however sightings are never guaranteed
How close will we get to the whales?
It is in our best interests to protect our island and its resources. These magnificent wildlife are protected therefore vessels are permitted to approach no closer than 50 meters of the animal . No touching or feeding the animals are allowed at any point in time. Any swimmers getting into the water should remain a body’s length away (5-6ft)
What other animals might we see?
The rich marine ecosystem offers a diverse range of wildlife, making each trip a unique experience.
- Dolphins: Common species include spinner dolphins, pan tropical spotted dolphin, rough toothed dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, Fraser’s dolphins and striped dolphins.
- Sea Turtles: Look out for green sea turtles, hawksbill turtles, and leatherback turtles.
- Fish: You might spot schools of tuna, flying fish
- Pelagic Birds: Various seabirds, such as frigatebirds, shearwaters, white tailed tropical bird, pelicans, bobbies and others might be observed.
- Other Whales: pilot whales, humpback whales, orcas ( killer whales), false killer whales, pygmy killer whale
How do I get a permit?
To participate in swimming with the whales a permit is required, you must first inquire availability you can do so by contacting us , if there is availability your application will be sent in, once the dates have been approved and your deposit has been paid we complete the entire process for you

What if we don’t see any whales?
While whale sightings are not guaranteed the is a possibility of finding other animals, the crew will make every effort to maximize your chances, if nothing is seen the experience will still be educational and enjoyable
Fishing
What types of fish can we catch?
You can expect to catch marlin, tuna, sail fish, mahi mahi, wahoo, mackerel, barracuda, parrotfish, and other tropical species.
What is done with the fish that is caught ?
The fish caught during the deep-sea fishing adventure will be retained by the operator. However, guests may request to receive some of the fish
